West discards a club when you ruff the third heart
West's refusal to ruff makes it clear he is holding four trumps. If so you are going down on straightforward play. Suppose you unblock the King & Queen of Clubs and lead a spade from dummy. If East has the Ace he will win and force you with another heart. If West has it he will hold off for one round and then put you in dummy with the Diamond. Now your only enty back to hand will be with a ruff and you will go two down. However, if the trumps were 3-3 you are OK. Play to Queen of Clubs and OVERTAKE the King with your Ace and play a third club. If West ruffs you overruff and now you can afford to lead trumps. If he discards, you ruff low, cash the Diamond Ace and crossruff for your nine tricks.
